Infatuation: A Decadent Journey into Chocolate Coconut Chai

As a tea enthusiast always on the lookout for unique and captivating blends, I was immediately drawn to Friday Tea's "Infatuation" - a chocolate coconut chai that promises a delightful twist on the classic spiced tea. This limited-edition offering from their Valentine's Day collection does not disappoint, delivering a cup that is both comforting and indulgent.

Upon opening the package, one is greeted with an enticing aroma that hints at the complexity within. The visual appeal is immediately apparent, with large, whole spices and generous chunks of dark chocolate nestled among the black tea leaves. This attention to quality ingredients sets the stage for an exceptional brewing experience.

The flavor profile of "Infatuation" is a masterful balance of traditional chai spices and indulgent additions. The black tea base provides a robust, malty foundation that stands up beautifully to the bold spices. Cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger - all in their whole form - create a vibrant spice melody that dances on the palate. The freshness and potency of these spices are evident, a testament to Friday Tea's commitment to quality.

What truly sets this blend apart is the harmonious integration of chocolate and coconut. The dark chocolate adds a rich, slightly bitter complexity that complements the spices perfectly, while the shaved coconut imparts a subtle sweetness and creamy texture. These additions elevate the chai experience, creating a brew that is both familiar and excitingly novel.

One of the most impressive aspects of "Infatuation" is its versatility. The robust flavor profile stands up admirably to the addition of milk, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy their chai in the traditional latte style. However, it's equally delightful when served black, allowing the nuances of the spices and chocolate to shine through. For a refreshing twist, it also makes an outstanding iced chai, perfect for warmer days or as an indulgent afternoon treat.

The recommended steeping parameters of 212°F (100°C) for 3-5 minutes allow for optimal flavor extraction, resulting in a well-balanced cup that can be enjoyed with or without additions. With approximately 70mg of caffeine per cup, it offers a pleasant energy boost, making it suitable for morning or afternoon enjoyment.

While "Infatuation" is part of Friday Tea's seasonal Valentine's Day collection and is currently out of stock, its quality and unique flavor profile make it a blend worth anticipating. It's a tea that not only lives up to its name but also showcases Friday Tea's creativity and attention to detail in crafting memorable blends.

In conclusion, "Infatuation" is a five-star offering that goes beyond mere novelty. It's a thoughtfully crafted, delicious tea that stands on its own merits while paying homage to the indulgent spirit of Valentine's Day. Whether you're a chai enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates a well-crafted, flavorful tea, "Infatuation" is a blend that deserves a place in your collection. It's a testament to Friday Tea's commitment to creating unique, high-quality tea experiences and one that I eagerly look forward to enjoying again in the future.

Like a Candy Bar

Reminds me of a Mounds bar with a little bit of spice, it's the perfect combination of sweet and spicy in a tea. The chocolate and coconut shine through on a base of chai blend. Loved getting this in the advent calendar, def plan to stock up asap.

Rich and delicious

Just a touch of sweetness. The cocoa butter, and oils from the coconut bits give this a bit of a richer mouthfeel. The cocoa and coconut also blend really well. Both noticeable, but not fighting one another. The underlying black tea lays some strong groundwork to pile everything else on. One of my faves from the advent calendar this year.
