Friday's Birthday Cake
Friday's Birthday Cake
I'm so happy to share my birthday cake with you in two forms: as a tasty tasty tea, and as a recipe so you can bake this treat at home yourself! This tea will be available every November!
Now you can have your cake and drink it, too! Every year since I was a kid, my mother has always made me an almost-savory Mexican chocolate cake. It's mostly comprised of spices, ground dark chocolate and ground almonds. Oh. My. God. SO delicous. She covers the whole thing with a rich dark chocolate ganache and draws a spiderweb atop in simple white sugar icing. I look forward to it every year, especially paired with a cafecito!
Ingredients: Black tea, cacao husk and nib, dark chocolate*, almond, allspice, cinnamon, natural chocolate fudge and almond flavoring
*Dark chocolate contains: cocoa beans, cane sugar, cocoa butter, ground vanilla bean
Approximately 70mg of caffeine per cup
Steep at 212° F or 100°C for 3-5 minutes.

If you want a cake in a cup that is spiced and almost savory, look no further. Having made the torte, I can tell you that this tea is an almost exact replica. The flavors are well balanced and the mouth feel is divine. In my humble opinion, this is one of Friday's top 5 blends.
I love so many teas from this shop, but this one is my new #1 favorite. It's like starting my day with a big slice of cake in liquid form.
